„Absinthe is a spirit made with wormwood extracts, its heyday was in the 18th century. Its typical taste is obtained by addition of star anise, fennel and other herbs. For a long time served as an absinthe intoxication drug, because of the neurotoxin thujone contained in the wormwood plant. Since 1923, prohibited by law, this energizing drink now experiences a renaissance after it has been re-legalized with a regulated portion of thujone in 1998.
For classic savor pour 4 to 6 cl absinthe into the glass. Sprinkle a teaspoon of sugar with absinthe and ignite. When the sugar caramelized from burning and the flame is completely extinguished, stir the sugar in the glass and pour ice cold water in it. This results in the characteristic blurring. The mix depends on personal taste.
Warning: Never put burning sugar into the glass!
